Camp Capacity 2008
Loads of Fun – Little Bit of Fright
The Muscular Dystrophy Association has been lucky enough to receive a generous donation of $12,000 from the Baxter Charitable Foundation, managed by Perpetual Trustees, to assist with the cost of next year’s Camp Capacity. Camp welcomes all young people with a neuromuscular condition and their siblings and is a unique opportunity for a week of fun and adventure. This year’s theme is based around all things fun and a little bit scary and will be held at the Mylor Baptist Centre, 14th-18th January.
Tentative Programme Includes:
Swimming, Harley Owners Group, a live performance, Sailability, horse riding, laser skirmish, craft, Hollywood themed “Murder Mystery Party,” outing and special drive, 18+ dinner, competition games, flying fox, trampolining and a plethora of mystery and intrigue…
All activities are tailored or modified to suit the ages and abilities of participants and all support needs are met. Camp is a great opportunity for kids to have fun and meet other people with similar experiences, but is also a great chance for respite for families.
Some evidence to substantiate our claims that camp is fantastic, from campers, carers and family members:
“I am not alone!”
“Camp is awesome”
“Can’t wait to do it again next year”
“Thank you for providing this opportunity”
“I look forward to it each year”
“He always comes home positive and energized, with a stronger sense of self”
“My husband and I can spend quality time together knowing that the kids are being well cared for”
Thanks also to the generous support of the Coca-Cola Australia Foundation, who have approved us for a Community Grant worth $8,500 to assist members from remote SA & NT to attend next year’s camp. These funds can contribute toward the cost of travel to and from camp and will help to ensure that all members have the opportunity to experience the wonders of camp.
Expressions of interest for campers will be distributed soon, but if you do not receive one, or would like any further information, please contact Lisa or Nicola at MDA.
